'Pati Patni Aur Woh 2' Fails to Cast Its Spell; Film Crashes at the Box Office, Opens Its Account with a Mere Sum

Ayushmann Khurrana's highly anticipated film, *Pati Patni Aur Woh 2*, has finally hit theaters; however, its opening at the box office has been significantly lackluster compared to expectations. Directed by Mudassar Aziz, the film garnered a very meager collection on its first day—less than half of what Kartik Aaryan's 2019 installment in the same franchise earned.

Bollywood star Ayushmann Khurrana's most-awaited romantic-comedy drama film finally hit theaters on May 15. However, the film has been receiving a mixed response from both audiences and critics. The film also got off to a rather sluggish start at the box office.

This film failed to break the opening-day collection record set by Kartik Aaryan's *Pati Patni Aur Woh*, released in 2019. According to reports from trade websites, Ayushmann's film grossed a mere ₹3.85 crore on its first day across approximately 6,554 shows—a figure being regarded as one of the weakest openings of his career.

'Pati Patni Aur Woh 2' is, in fact, a sequel to Kartik Aaryan's 2019 hit film. Surprisingly, this new film has garnered a first-day collection of less than half the earnings of the original 'Pati Patni Aur Woh'—which starred Kartik, Ananya Panday, and Bhumi Pednekar—compared to its opening-day figure of ₹9.10 crore. For Ayushmann, this start has been significantly colder than expected.

The film got off to a rather lackluster start, with very sparse crowds visible in theaters on the first day. In terms of statistics, an occupancy rate of only 5.38% was recorded for morning shows, 10.92% for afternoon shows, and approximately 10.46% for evening shows.

Even in terms of reviews, the film appears to be divided. While some critics have praised the film's humor and comic timing, others feel that it relies on the same old, worn-out jokes. However, everyone seemed to be in unanimous agreement on one point: the film's star cast. From the audience to the critics, everyone has wholeheartedly praised the spectacular performances delivered by the film's actors.

The film's story revolves around Prajapati (Ayushmann Khurrana), an officer in the Forest Department who is married to Aparna (Wamiqa Gabbi), a journalist. A twist enters Prajapati's life when he agrees to help his friend Chanchal (Sara Ali Khan) elope with her boyfriend, Sunny (Vishal Vashishtha).

Sunny's father (Tigmanshu Dhulia) is strongly against this relationship, so Prajapati has to pretend to be Chanchal's boyfriend for appearances. But the trouble arises when Prajapati's colleague Nilofar (Rakul Preet Singh) gets a misunderstanding that Prajapati and Chanchal are really having an affair. This is where the twist starts which creates tremendous confusion and commotion in the whole story.

Mudassar Aziz has directed 'Pati Patni Aur Woh Do'. Along with Ayushmann Khurrana, seasoned stars like Sara Ali Khan, Vamika Gabbi, Rakul Preet Singh and Vijay Raj are also seen in important roles in this film. This long army is doing the work of adding a tinge of comedy to the film.
